Millesgården – Located on a serene cliff top overlooking Lake Värtan and chock full of monumental replicas of Carl Milles most stunning, often erotic works. The terraced garden is especially magical at sunset, when his world-famous Angel Musicians and Hand of God dance against the orange-streaked sky.
Stockholm from the water – Seeing Stockholm from the water is an enjoyable must. Fortunately, there are many tours to choose from depending on your interests. Do not miss the romantic archipelago! This magnificent maritime landscape of more than 30 000 islands, islets and skerries, of just some one thousand are inhabited, is unique in the world.
Monteliusvägen – A scenic walkway along the heights of Södermalm with postcard views of  Riddarfjärden, Kungsholmen, the City Hall and Old Town. A popular place to get engaged.

Welcome Atlantis!

This is for all the passengers on Atlantis Baltic Gay Cruise. Tomorrow you’ll be in Stockholm and I have some suggestions on how to spend your day.

Whatever you do, do not miss a visit to Mälarpaviljongen! A must when you’re in Stockholm. Mälarpaviljongen is a verdant oasis with a restaurant, bar and alfresco section, located on the pier, waterfront and a barge at Norr Mälarstrand. From here you have the most stunning views across the waters of Riddarfjärden. This LGBT hot spot is the place if you are looking for an atmospheric, cozy local restaurant and high-spirited bar with great music and people.

Visit Fotografiska, one of the world’s largest meeting places for contemporary photography. Now showing Annie Leibovitz, A Photographer’s Life 1990-2005. In addition to the main exhibition area, Fotografiska also houses a book and souvenir shop, a restaurant, a photo gallery, and a bar boasting one of Stockholm’s best views.

Want to experience something different? Visit the Hallwyl Museum. Rumored lesbian Countess Wilhelmina von Hallwyl devoted her later years to cataloguing her life’s everyday objects, from toothbrushes to oil paintings and silver chalices, creating both a historical slice-of-aristocratic-life and an eccentric tribute to monomania. 

 

If you would like to go somewhere not far away from your boat I recommend the Millesgården sculpture park at the former home and studio of its creator Carl Milles, Sweden’s foremost sculptor. Located on a serene clifftop overlooking Lake Värtan and chock full of monumental replicas of his most stunning, often erotic works, the terraced garden is especially magical at sunset, when his world-famous Angel Musicians and Hand of God dance against the orange-streaked sky.

 

Take a stroll in Gamla Stan (the Old Town) , one of the largest and best preserved medieval city centers in Europe. This is also one of the foremost attractions in Stockholm. This is where Stockholm was founded in 1252. In Gamla Stan, at idyllic Stortorget Square, you find the cozy LGBT café Chokladkoppen. Exquisite sandwiches and pastries, and a very popular alfresco section.
