For many Swedes the Eurovision is something special. With ABBA’s Waterloo fresh in the memory we consider ourselves to be the true schlager nation. (The Swedish national competition is Europe’s biggest.) Last year’s disappointing score leaving Sweden out of the actual final turned into a national gay drama trauma. Therefore last night’s semi final win for Eric Saade and his hit Popular was more than welcomed at Stockholm’s most happening gay bar Torget where the Eurovision is shown on big screen. We’re sure Saturday will be even more hysterical. So if you’re visiting Stockholm this weekend make sure to be ready for Eurovision mania. Why not start your night at Torget where they will be showing the competition live as it all happens. Then head to Zipper, the gay club just off Stureplan, and celebrate whoever wins. If the Irish Jedward boys spandex trousers aren’t enough for you why not watch the show on big screens at SLM? Dress code applies, of course!
Not so into the Eurovision? Garage is open in Kolingsborg and The Dasco, the club’s sweaty success of last summer, is once again The Place To Be. (Haven’t been yet? Well, let’s just say it’s a loo full of hot Swedes – and you of course.)
Queer club 2:an in the Berns basement is also a fabulous choice for a Saturday night in Stockholm. But make sure to be on the guest list if you want to be let into Miss Inga’s VIP world of sin. (For guest list email martin@missinga.se before 9.)
Have an amazing Eurovision weekend!
