The Vasa Museum has opened again after being closed for renovations and a newly built extension of the museum building! The Vasa is the only preserved seventeenth-century ship in the world, and a unique art treasure. More than 95 percent of the ship is original, and it is decorated with hundreds of carved sculptures.

The 69 meter-long warship Vasa sank on its maiden voyage in the middle of Stockholm in 1628, and was salvaged 333 years later in 1961.

On May 1,  it’s time for the annual gay hat parade at the waterfront on Kungsholmen.

The beautiful parade starts at the gas station at 15:00, goes along the beautiful Norrmälarstrand and ends at Mälarpaviljongen. At Mälarpaviljongen there will be a party and a jury will nominate the parade’s most beautiful hat! At Mälarpaviljongen, The Southern Trio will be playing, repeating their success from last Sunday when they played at the Pavilion’s first Sunday brunch with live entertainment.

The event also marks the start of collecting money for The Mälarpaviljongen Rainbow Fund that will support the LGBT movement in Uganda this year. Read more about the fund>>

We are so excited! ABBA The Museum will open in Stockholm on the 7th of May. 

Have you ever seen the Northern Lights? Nordic colors and shapes was what inspired the Swedish designer Owe Sandström while making these fabulous outfits for ABBA and one can certainly see the resemblance with the Nordic night sky. This picture was taken after the tour started in Edmonton Canada in 1979. The band wore white outfits specially made for each one of them.
