Rooney Mara to play Lisbeth Salander in Hollywood remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig have been cast in the lead roles of Columbia Pictures’ three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s literary blockbuster The Millennium Trilogy under the direction of David Fincher.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo – the first film of the series, which also includes The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest – begins shooting next month here in Sweden. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is set for worldwide release December 21, 2011.

Noomi Rapace was powerful in The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo. I don’t know if anyone can reprise that role and do it full justice or if the American version can even come close to the amazing Nordic adaptation.
Very difficult to see the American version coming even close to the Swedish, Noomi Rapace was so convincing it will be impossible for Rooney Mara to achieve that intensity.
